CALDWELL, Thomas Earl (1898-1983)

Pamplin--Thomas Earl Caldwell, 85, formerly of Lynchburg, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Babcock Manor. His wife was the late Mary Williams Caldwell.

Born in Appomattox county, he was the son of the late James Walker Caldwell and Margaret Smith Caldwell. He was a member of Pamplin United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War I and a retired employee of Craddock Terry Shoe Corp. where he was a life member of the Industrial Management Club and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member and Past Master of Marshall Masonic Lodge No. 39 AF & AM, Past High Priest of Royal Arch, served on the Appomattox Planning Commission and was a member of Pamplin Chapter, American Association of Retired Persons. He is survived by a brother, Archer Caldwell of Lynchburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Marshall of Appomattox and Mrs. Nannie Marshall of Lynchburg.

Graveside funeral services with Masonic rites were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church cemetery. Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
